Here on the Friendly PC Omaha blog, we focus on computers and how to get the best out of them. But one aspect that can be overlooked when you’re talking about hardware and software is the physical environment. Of course, most of us simply set the monitor, mouse, and keyboard on a desk, plug everything in and power up (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Sometimes, the same old set-up can get boring, and you need to think outside the box to create a more satisfying space around your computer. Today, we’re going to share some of the coolest customized desktops we’ve seen, because every gamer could use a little battlestation inspiration.
Pretty as a Picture
We think this is one of the most conventionally attractive computer displays we’ve seen. Tired of hiding your computer in a back room because it doesn’t suit your interior design sensibilities? This idea is a can’t-miss! The simple components and thoughtful frame in this set-up can add a touch of class to any room.
Only the Essentials
Looking for an ultra-minimalist battlestation? Look no further! If you detest seeing even the slightest bit of clutter in your field of view when you’re in the middle of a boss fight, this design is perfect for you.
We’re Sensing a Theme
Still on the simpler end of our battlestation inspiration theme, this boldly colored and modern desktop has a killer look. Fans of minimal design will love this arrangement, and we particularly love the color coordination. This desk started with great design, and was executed perfectly. We love it when a plan comes together.
The Place has Great Ambient Lighting
The ambient lighting trend is really catching on in desktop design. This clean, multi-purpose workspace (notice the sound mixer and extra desktop to the side of the computer) is perfectly suited to productivity, and the lights make it a head-turner, as well.
Pixels for Days
If you’re anything like us, you’ve occasionally leaned back in your chair to survey your 3-monitor arrangement and felt underwhelmed. You think, “you know what I need? I need to add a 60-inch display to really get the most out of my computer.” Don’t let anyone say that you’re crazy. We wholeheartedly agree that so much screen space is not only beneficial, as this photo proves, it can look great, too.
Monitors? Where We’re Going We Won’t Need Monitors.
You want desktop design idea that’s way outside the box? Try this (sort of) display-less arrangement on for size. You won’t be settling in for many marathon sessions with an Oculus Rift strapped to your head, but the VR experience deserves a battlestation all its own.
